Direct Bidding was launched a fortnight ago; a new way of trading through online bidding. Since then, more than 450 supply rows have been offered and the first deals have been closed. We have already received a great deal of valuable feedback from the first users, which will help us making Direct Bidding even easier. For example, two new features were developed and added to Direct Bidding this week: a promotion button and notifications for growers and buyers.

Direct Bidding is a new way of trading. To learn what works best, we started with a smaller group of growers who were the first to use this feature. In the first two weeks, this already generated valuable feedback and points for improvement from growers and buyers, aimed at being able to draw attention to new supply and receive notifications.

Self promotion via the promotion button

We see that growers who promote their supply to their buyers get more bids and also close more deals. For example, by using a template mail that was created, but we also see that growers get more bids after timeline posts. To make promoting Direct Bidding supply even easier, we introduced a new promotion button last week. This allows growers to display Direct Bidding supply on their customers' timelines with the click of a button.

Signals for growers and buyers

For growers and buyers alike, Direct Bidding is a new way of trading. For example, some growers report that they do not always realise that a bid has been made, while buyers do not immediately realise that their bid has been accepted. We also hear that in some cases growers accepted interesting bids just a little after the 12:15 deadline. To make this easier, notifications that growers and buyers can switch on and off themselves were added this week. For example:

  • Growers now receive a notification when a bid has been made or when the deadline has been reached.
  • Buyers are notified as soon as a bid is accepted.
