DAC7 reporting requirement
Digital platforms have grown considerably in recent years. As a result, governments have less visibility into exactly what is happening. For instance, entrepreneurs who sell something through a platform may not pay enough tax on their earnings. Partly for this reason, a reporting requirement for digital platforms, also known as DAC7, will apply from 1 January 2023. This reporting requirement was created by the European Union with the aim of fiscal transparency in the digital economy.
This new European directive requires Royal FloraHolland to pass on certain information collected in Floriday to the tax authorities. This involves sales/transaction data from sellers on Floriday. European governments then share this data with each other. By working so closely together, efforts are being made to prevent tax fraud.
Specifically, this means that Royal FloraHolland must submit the required financial data of sellers on Floriday, who meet the guidelines, to the tax authorities annually. In 2023, DAC7 was only targeting suppliers that have made transactions through Floriday for the first time in 2023. From 2024, the reporting requirement will apply to all sellers on Floriday. The selling parties will be informed accordingly.
