Want to be informed about the status of order delivery? This is a key desire of buyers. We are working with carriers to provide this insight through Floriday. Carrier Faber Bloementransport is the first carrier to make scans of delivery forms, giving growers and buyers insight into order delivery.

Theun Faber has been making the case for sharing more transport information in the floriculture industry for years. He marvels that, as a consumer, you can fully track a package from a random webshop of a few euros, while a buyer of a batch of flowers or plants of considerable value, sometimes has no idea where the cargo is at the time. Surely there must be another way to do this?

Theun owns Faber Bloementransport, a specialist in floriculture transporter for growers, wholesalers, garden centres and flower shops. With 20 trucks, they transport flowers and plants daily from the Eelde area to Aalsmeer, Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk.

Sharing transport information

Theun has a clear ambition: to move together towards more transport information in the floriculture industry. "We have an enormous amount of valuable data, with which we are keen to provide the industry with the right information. Surely it would be nice if we could proactively share this information? By offering this order-level insight through Floriday, a huge amount of time can be saved by no longer having to make phone calls. With this information, everyone can improve processes."

Time saving

For a buyer, it is very important to know whether the delivery is on time. Theun: "A lot of time is now lost looking for information: where is my lot?" The buyer's whole logistics process is set to time. Track & Trace information ensures that a buyer has the right information at hand and can make adjustments in time, should the delivery arrive at a different time than expected.

Working towards the right infrastructure

To make this happen, it is important to work on the right infrastructure. "There are all kinds of trade flows and each carrier works in its own way. I am in favour of using the same building blocks with each other to make it easier to connect the systems. This allows us to share Track & Trace information with the right organisations in the industry. And Floriday provides the ideal infrastructure for this."

Transport information pilot

A number of carriers are currently running a pilot to enrich orders in Floriday with Track & Trace information. The idea is for carriers to scan the letter at different points in the process. This gives the buyer more insight into where the delivery is at the time.

Last month, the first scans came through in Floriday. If the driver scans the uniform letter at the time the load carrier is put into the truck, buyers can find this status in Floriday. This also applies to delivery to the buyer or inbound orders at a carrier's warehouse. Thanks to order information from Floriday, buyers will soon be better informed about which purchased trade items will be shipped and when.
