The catalog is the basis for everything you want to do in Floriday. You need the catalog elsewhere in Floriday, for example when creating a clock delivery or when supplying trade items directly. In this article, we give you a few tips on how to set up your catalog in the best possible way! These tips apply if you use the screens in Floriday.

Tip 1: Create regular and customer specific products

When using the catalog for the first time, you have the option of creating regular trade items or selecting customer specific items. Do you work with trade items that are available to everyone or that you supply for Auction? Then select regular trade item. Do you work with products for specific customers and have specific agreements been made about this? Then create a customer specific trade item. A customer specific trade item can be linked to the relevant customer, so that only this specific customer (or group of customers) can find this item in available supply and place an order on it.

Please note: If you wish to offer a particular customer a price other than the regular price, you can do this by classifying this customer in a customer specific price group. You won't need to create a customer specific trade item for this, and this will also make sure your catalog stays efficient and clear!

Tip 2: Quickly change the characteristics of a trade item

You can change the characteristics of trade items quickly in Floriday, for example if you want to add a certificate or combine bunches. You can take care of this by clicking on the magic wand in the catalog overview. Add the characteristic, and then click on the trade items to which you want to link these characteristics. With just a few clicks, you can easily and quickly add these characteristics to a large number of your trade items.

Tip 3: Save time and create a variant or copy of a trade item

Do you work with many different base items and does a particular item only differ in, say, stem length or weight? If you can use the same photo, we advise you to create a variant of the trade item in question, as this will avoid having many different base items in your catalog and will maintain clarity. Several variants may eventually appear under one trade item, for example, if they hardly differ at all or the difference is minimal. You can do this in the characteristics section.

Do you need to add a new photo for a trade item? If so, don't create a variant, but copy the trade item instead.

Tip 4: Keep things clear and work with collections

Working with collections has several benefits:

  • By using collections, you can filter quickly, and the correct products will immediately appear when you click on a particular collection.
  • Creating collections also makes your catalog a lot clearer for buyers. With a single click, your customers will be able to filter and see the products they're looking for in 'Your Shop'. When creating a collection, it's a good idea to add the name of the product or several products in the description, as buyers will also be able to see this description. After all, the clearer things are, the faster buyers will be able to find the right products.

Tip 5: Make sure you have an optimal trolley layout and fill in your packing configurations correctly

You can add different types of packing configurations in Floriday. For example, by indicating 'maximum load' in the packing configuration section, Floriday will help you create the optimal trolley layout. Floriday will indicate a bandwidth and automatically calculate the maximum quantity for a trolley. However, this is only a recommendation, so, don't worry, this doesn't mean you'll always have to enter a full trolley in terms of packing configuration. You can still sell by packaging unit or layer.

Have you made agreements with a buyer for a certain type of packing configuration? If so, this is the place to set it up. You won't need to create a new trade item for this. You can add different types of packaging to a trade item, which the customer can then select from.

Tip 6: Give the buyer a clear picture of your product and set up your pictures

You can add several photos to a trade item. Do you conduct direct trade and clock trade through Floriday? If so, you can set a show photo as your default photo. When creating a trade item, you can also immediately add a photo that you want to use for Auction. Please note: this photo must comply with Royal FloraHolland's auction requirements. Floriday then automatically picks up this photo for a clock product.

Seasonal photos:
You can also add a seasonal photo to a trade item. When a product blooms, you can share the different stages of a plant with your customers. You can also link weeks, so that the buyer will be able to see exactly what the product looks like at a certain time. This option is mainly of interest to plant growers.

Tip 7: Give clear names to different product codes

When you create a trade item, it's important to give it a clear name, so that it's easy to find in Floriday. Please consider this carefully, because it will no longer be possible to change the product codes. As soon as the buyer places an order using this item code, this code will be fixed. The item code may contain up to 13 characters.

Tip 8: Enable Floriday to transfer Trade items from FloraXchange
