The Packaging Register helps growers, buyers and packaging suppliers to easily record, exchange and use packaging information for reporting, declarations and future legislation such as the PPWR.

What is the Floriculture Packaging Register

The Floriculture Packaging Register (FPR) is the central repository where packaging data is recorded and made available to the entire floriculture industry. Packaging suppliers register their packaging and its characteristics. Growers can then link these packages to their trade items in Floriday, and buyers can retrieve the data digitally for their own processes.

Why does the Packaging Register exist?

More and more companies are having to deal with sustainability reporting, packaging declarations, an increasing number of information requests from customers and new European regulations such as the PPWR. Without a centralised registration system, the same packaging information has to be submitted time and time again. The Floriculture Packaging Register (FPR) brings all this together into a single, standardised sector solution. 

Cooperation in the chain

The FPR is an initiative of various stakeholders in the supply chain: Floricode, Royal FloraHolland, Floriday, VGB, HSPI (packaging suppliers) and the Floriday IT Expert Team. Together, they ensure a single, uniform industry standard for packaging data. 

How does it work?

Step 1 - Packaging suppliers register packaging in the FPR.
Step 2 - Growers link packaging to trade items in Floriday.
Step 3 - Buyers automatically retrieve packaging details via their software or API connection.
Step 4 - The data can be used for packaging declarations, sustainability reports and future PPWR obligations

Ready for future regulations (PPWR)

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) increases the need for reliable packaging information. For this reason, the FPR is being further developed to include additional data and document-sharing capabilities. 

Among other things, work is currently being carried out on:

  • support for the Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
  • additional packaging details
  • confidential packaging
  • international application
