The third Sector Platform consultation was held on 25 September. The aim of this consultation is to work with growers and exporters to create a transparent, reliable and digital sector. The agenda included the progress of Floriday, new functionalities, sustainable data standards and the Packaging Register.
Filter by FSI compliant
In March 2025, Dutch Flower Group, FM Group, Van der Plas Group and Royal Lemkes, jointly as Accelerators, presented a roadmap towards 100% certified sourcing. From 1 January 2026, a number of product groups (plants, roses, chrysanthemums) have been designated to be purchased only with the 'FSI-compliant' label. At Floriday, we are developing the ability for buyers to filter more effectively. This can already be filtered in Explorer, but it will also be possible to set a hard filter at organisation level. This allows companies to easily exclude product-level offerings that do not meet FSI criteria.
Introduction of mandatory Multi Factor Authentication
Floriday is preparing to introduce Multi Factor Authentication. This additional layer of security makes data even more secure and reliable. Not only does it make Floriday itself more reliable, it also benefits users and the industry as a whole. We will begin to communicate the importance of the upcoming commitment early next year. From 1 April, Multi Factor Authentication will be active by default for every user account on Floriday as part of the phased rollout. This move will strengthen digital security for all users.
Status of Packaging Register
During the consultation, Henk Poldervaart, director of Floricode, gave an update on the Packaging Register. The Packaging Register is technically ready, but still needs to be completed by the packaging suppliers," Henk says. As exporters often use their own Excel spreadsheets for packaging declarations, this can be a time-consuming and error-prone task. The Packaging Register provides an effective solution to this problem, taking a significant amount of administrative work off the hands of buyers. From the Sector Platform, we are exploring ways to encourage packaging suppliers to register more quickly, so that the entire sector can benefit. It is important that buyers express the importance of this more to packaging suppliers.
Floripef-CR: sharing sustainability data in the chain
Huub Bakker, sector architect at Royal FloraHolland, gave a presentation on Floripef-CR and why it is important to make sustainability data available at commodity level. The important issues here are the validity period, confidentiality, and the method of representation (e.g. categorisation or labelling). Floriday already has an article catalogue used by members and suppliers. The various parties are considering how to share sustainability data more widely.
Through the Sector Platform consultation, growers, exporters and Floriday are working together to create a transparent, reliable and digital sector.
