The interactive Roadmap was developed in 2021 to visualize all wishes, ideas, and development issues. The Roadmap stems from a widely shared desire among growers and buyers to gain insight into and influence the future of Floriday. Users are invited to submit their wishes. Other users can then indicate whether they consider this wish important by giving it a thumbs up (or thumbs down). But how does submitting a wish on the Roadmap actually work? Roos van der Meer, product coach at Floriday, tells us what she does with the submitted wishes.
Wishes on the Roadmap
"To be able to make improvements to the Floriday platform, we first need to understand how buyers and growers use the Floriday screens in their workflow and what issues they encounter," says Roos, "and sometimes they are simply good ideas that are submitted as wishes." Roos has been assessing new wishes for a year now. She ensures that the wish is clearly formulated and, if necessary, requests further explanation from the grower or buyer. Is it a realistic request? Then Roos places it on the Roadmap, and others can respond positively or negatively by giving it a thumbs-up.
20 wishes per week
"We receive about 20 wishes per week, and on average, we can publish three-quarters of them on the Roadmap," explains Roos. Why aren't all requests published? It's possible that a wish is unfeasible or not in line with the developments and objectives of Floriday or Royal FloraHolland. Roos: "In that case, I call the user and explain why we can't publish the wish." Roos: "Sometimes wishes are submitted even though the functionality is already integrated into the screens. In that case, we contact them and explain where the functionality can be found. Sometimes the wish has already been published, and we ask the submitter to give the previously submitted wish a thumbs-up."
Make your request known!
What feedback do we receive on the Roadmap? Roos: "Users are generally positive about the Roadmap, but they don't always know how to find it. Some feel that submitting a wish is pointless, but we recommend doing so. It's important that a wish gets known." Whether other users also see a wish as valuable also depends on the working method. Roos: "Every grower or buyer has their own working method, and what might be an issue for one user might not be for another. By giving thumbs up, we can see where there's a need."
From wish to place on the planning schedule
"Of all the wishes received, a few are selected for the planning by the Product Owners," explains Roos. "They consider the popularity of a wish, but also its (technical) feasibility and its place within the overall development of Floriday." Many more wishes are received than can be fulfilled. They also consider how many users will benefit from it and what other functions the development will impact. Some wishes are technically very complex, impact connected systems, or are not aligned with the objectives of Floriday or Royal FloraHolland. The Roadmap also shows which wishes are planned and which have been completed.
